Xillio realized the first practical TAPICC implementation with the launch of LocHub. Our goal is to pioneer the use of TAPICC in a practical scenario. The TAPICC might be seen as a failure in the localization industry, but we think that is because most people want it to fail. Not because it does not work.
The truth is that each industry is heading towards and ecosystem economy. And for an ecosystem to work, modern API’s are essential.
The main advantages of an ecosystem approach are the following:
These advantages are only possible with modern API-based technology.
Majority of Language Technology providers do not have modern technology and can not easily support modern API’s either. Secondly, majority of language technology providers are still very much focused on a vendor lock in approach. Hence, the current 'failure' of TAPICC.
In our view, the question to ask is: "What is stronger. The power of the incumbent technology providers to fight change or market trends?
We have seen in every industry so far that the global trends win in each market. Why would localization be any different? If the incumbents keep fighting it, they will simply put themselves out of business.
Modern API’s are very easy to implement. If your technology is built with the right standards, implementing a TAPICC client will not take you more than 40-120 man hours.
LocHub aims to facilitate a modern ecosystem approach within localization. Cloud has fundamentally changed how the world does business. Cloud favors API-first and triggers the start and possibility of ecosystems. We combine the API-first approach and the interoperability principles of TAPICC to create new value for the translation industry. This resulted in LocHub.
In the 2-min video, our partner Kaleidoscope demonstrates how to localize Adobe Experience Manager pages using LocHub, Connecting Content and the TAPICC integration in SDL Trados GroupShare.
