With OpenText AppXtender 16.3 reaching end-of-primary support in December 2021, AppXtender support has now transitioned to “Extended” or “Sustaining Support”: this is the last stage before end-of-life for the content management system. For many IT organizations, this is resulting in higher risks, security threats, downtime, and operational costs – including extra support and maintenance costs – for running their legacy AppXtender environment.
Many information management professionals are now accelerating plans to sunset OpenText AppXtender (now called OpenText AppEnhancer) and to re-platform to SharePoint and Microsoft 365, Box, or another cloud platform. The challenge: AppXtender is an outdated, legacy system with a unique structure. As a result, very few IT consultants or software providers are familiar with the structure and most out-of-the-box connectors fail during a “stress-test” when migrating content from AppXtender to their new environment. We even wrote a blog about some of the challenges in migrating content from OpenText AppXtender.
