My name is Jeroen Mak and I work at Xillio for about a year now. I graduated from the Hogeschool Windesheim in the spring of 2016 where I studied Engineering. After my studies, I knew I wanted to do something with consulting, because you can really mean something for a customer. The contact with customers was a plus for me. I talked to several consultancy firms, but the jobs they offered were mainly technical and without customer contact.
Without programming skills
Through Indeed I came across the job as Junior Consultant at Xillio. Despite the requirement that candidates should be able to program, I applied fort he job. I could not program really good and there was little attention for it during my study, but I always found it interesting.
After an interview, I had to make a test together with a Xillio consultant. It showed that I have the skills and understand the logic of the programming language Xill. In October 2016 I started working at Xillio and had an intensive training the first six weeks.
Compared with the companies were I have an internship you have lots of freedom at Xillio, as long as you deliver good work. Within only two months I am programming on a real product and am now increasingly involved in client implementation projects. Ultimately, I will lead these projects myselves.
I feel that I can learn a lot and grow. I would like to improve my programming speed, want to be able to do more complex projects and maybe even learn another programming language, such as Java. All these opportunities are handed to you. It's up to me to make it a success.
